Uh oh, Simba, kid, don't do it, run while you still can!

Scar has fully turned his back on the good, and just path, anything involved with him is sure to be bad news!

This comic is simply Fantastic Raven, keep up the spectacular work-when you can!

Some are oversensitive, I think. It was a little sh**storm like I had wrote "I don't like YOUR kid" :P
But okay, was worse some time ago, when some girl attacked me on DA because of a main character in my comic (in 1st chapter it was evil and wanted to kill other one, now in 2nd I explain why it was that way). I wrote under one of my pages I don't like some good character and I prefer that evil one. OMG, it was like an explosion. She wrote (for example) I must be abnormal and a
scoundrel in real life 'cause normal people never would prefer a bad one  Then she made a study of my main OC and suggested I should change it's behavior or remove it from the comic (which is about it's life...) and stop to promote hate and violence by my comic (??? xD).
One word: PEOPLE.

omg.. Wow wtf is wrong with people? That's so stupid like calm down this isn't your written story. Why do people have to prove themselves right all the time ? As if they're protesting for feminism. To me that's so childish and believe me when I say there's a lot of children on DA. But don't worry, you're not the only one who gets stupid comments on comics. People are like that all the time on my Instagram account and I just ignore. (sorry for the late reply btw) Actually it was way worse. There was this page with thousands of followers who promoted mine and asked if he can be in my comic and I said sure. He's only a year older than me and after posting my admin pic he began to "catch feelings" for me and he was being creepy about it. As stupid as I was I didn't think much of it. we lived not to far from eachother so we decided to meet. long story short he was acting weird I never talked to him again after that and he turned out to be a complete psychopathic creep. I didn't want to continue my comic anymore, he totally ruined it for me.

Selfish? Spoiled? He did just a mistake (going where he wasn't supposed to, like most kids) and he apologized after the talk with his father. And when they were in danger he risked his life to save Nala's.
I wonder what most people think "spoiled and selfish" mean.

I didn't mean he's 100% bad. I know he apologized and when he took Nala to EG he tried to save his friend. But he was spoiled (coddled, mollycoddled - in that way as Google Translate tells, not he was messed up or something) in my opinion. I just don't like his behavior, his character. Kiara made a mistake as a cub too, but it was different and I like her. I don't know how to describe it. Maybe Simba is too different from me. I remember I didn't like him for the very beginning and I was 6 when TLK was in cinemas for the first time. Nala cub, Kiara, Kovu, okay. But not him.

Besides it's NOT REAL CHARACTER and I don't like this NOT REAL CHARACTER, no need to go to real life and talk about who was what.

:iconperpetualtwilight21:
Newsflash: a character doesn't HAVE to be real for you to talk about their traits.  *Le GASP* :o It's fine that you don't like Simba - heck, it's fine not to like REAL people - for whatever reasons you have, but telling others that they can't compare reality and fiction just because the result offends you is EXTREMELY childish and thin-skinned.  Believe it or not I wasn't trying to offend you, just point out that children tend to be a lot more selfish and have a lot more flaws in general than adults.  If that doesn't change your opinion of Simba or open your mind up even slightly then fine, whatever: everyone has their own path to follow and I never try to force anything on anyone.  I freely admit that I wasn't mature, selfless, and wise as a child ( in fact I was just the opposite XD ), and if your reply to my comment is anything to go by I would bet everything I own and then some that you weren't either.  Get over yourself.

OMG... Have no words. Okay, I'm childish and everything you want - "now you satisfied?". I hope you had a nice time writing your long comment, 'cause it wont change anything. I can understand that's how children are but I don't have to like it. That's all.
Reply
:iconperpetualtwilight21:
Trust me, that wasn't a "long comment".  Not even close.

"... 'cause it wont change anything..."  And if you read what I wrote, you'll see that I don't care if it changes anything.  That wasn't the point of my comment at all: I know when someone has their mind made and is NOT going to change it no matter what, and I never waste my time engaging in debate with such people.  I save my arguments for those who are open to other points of view and can be swayed by a good argument.  Not everyone can, and even the people who can often can't be swayed on every topic.

If you don't like kids that's your right and you're entitled to your opinion.  No mature person will begrudge you that.  However, most people do like kids to some degree and can both understand and forgive their childish mindsets.  So when you pop on a webcomic stating that you don't like a child character on account of his childish attributes, and you don't bother explaining upfront that you just don't like kids in general, you can expect that you might get a comment or two expressing confusion and defending the character.  It's not so much that we care what you think of the character and want to change your mind, it's more that we don't see the character the way you do ( with Simba we're more forgiving of his flaws because we understand that he is a child and thus judge him accordingly ) and we're trying to figure out how you came to conclusions which, to us, seem overly harsh.  Had your original comment said something like "Ugh, I hate cub Simba!  He's such a spoiled, selfish brat.  I understand that many kids his age are, but I don't like kids in general."  then most likely not a single person would have replied to you: there would no longer be any mystery as to how you could judge a kid harshly just for being a kid.  I myself would have scrolled right past your comment with a shrug and an "oh well".  I'm not making any demands on you and I don't care what you think about any given topic.  I'm just offering a bit of friendly advice for the future.  You can take it or leave it as you choose.

Eh, why do you want to continue this? My comment was I don't like that character, 'cause for me he's acting like a selfish little brat. THAT'S ALL and we all know this Disney's product enough to know why someone can find it irritating.
No need to make an analysis if I like kids in general or am I mature enough to write comment on DA and please, don't tell me what I supposed to do, I'm almost 30 and I don't need any guide :P I wrote it simple earlier: I don't want to DISCUSS about animated character. I don't find it interesting to wonder what if Simba would be real kid etc. If on this page would be - for example - Nuka, I would write I don't like Nuka. Someone else would write Nuka is awesome. And? Nothing.
So I suggest to close this barren conversation.

YOU'RE the one who keeps continuing this, not me.  In a nutshell my last comment was saying "Do what you want and think what you want, but THIS is why people were defending Simba, and you can avoid it in the future IF YOU SO CHOOSE."  I was NOT telling you what to do, and if you understood basic English you would know that ( what part of "I'm making no demands on you" and "here's my advice, you can take it or leave it as you so choose" isn't clear?

I wasn't "making an analysis" of whether or not you like kids in general - you directly state to one of the other people who broached the same topic I did that you do NOT - but even if I WAS making such analyses, you ALSO have no right to tell me what to do ( it goes both ways, sweetheart ), and if I want to make analyses I will bloody well make them.  If you can't handle that, then for the love of god I would suggest you STOP REPLYING TO ME, because as far as I was concerned our conversation was over with my last comment, and I was ready to let it go, then you came back on and fanned the flames saying I said things which I didn't and making it clear that you didn't understand ( but thought you did ) pretty much EVERYTHING I SAID.

You don't want to talk about animated characters?  Well, believe it or not the conversation stopped being about them with our previous two comments.  Again, all I was doing was explaining why your comment elicited the reaction it did so that you could CHOOSE ( again, CHOOSE, I'm not telling you what to do! ) to avoid such back-and-forths in the future.  Again -- and I can not stress this enough --- I don't CARE what you think or how you feel about fictional characters, or even real ones, for that matter.  I was trying to give you a bit of friendly advice, mainly because your replies to me and the other person who commented were very rude and uncalled for ( and if I seemed rude in my first reply, I apologize, as that was not my intent and I am sometimes a bad judge of what will offend and what won't ).

"I don't find it interesting to wonder what if Simba would be real kid etc."  Wow, what conversation are you replying to here?  Cuz I never talked about what if Simba was real, and again, I DON'T CARE THAT YOU DON'T LIKE SIMBA.  THIS CONVERSATION STOPPED BEING ABOUT SIMBA AND FICTIONAL CHARACTERS IN GENERAL A COUPLE OF POSTS AGO.

"
So I suggest to close this barren conversation."  I suggest the same.  I don't know if your problem stems from simple immaturity ( I'm 31 and would be embarrassed to behave as you do ) or an inability to understand English very well ( I've visited your profile, seen your comic, and from these I can guess it's not your first language ), but I think we can both agree that nothing constructive is coming out of this.  ( Apologies to to Raven, if she's reading this.  I didn't mean to argue on your page. )

I would also like to add my thought if that is all right.

Personally I never saw Simba as a selfish spoiled brat. A lot people point out the "I Just Can't Wait to be King" song as "proof" of his selfishness and being a brat, but I don't think that is the case at all. There are plenty of children who fantasize about being the president of the United States or the ruler of the world or whatever. Doesn't make them brats or selfish. They just don't fully understand that being the president or a leader means a lot of responsibility and most of the time they learn about that as they grow older and mature.
I also personally saw Simba as just a normal kid and honestly don't understand the hatred against him.

Same here!  He seemed like just a normal kid to me.  Maybe a -bit- spoiled and selfish going by the way he speaks to and treats Zazu, but honestly nothing too bad, and not beyond the bounds of what's normal for his age group, I think.  I could be a little toerag too when I was his age, but it wasn't the way I was MOST of the time.  And Simba doesn't seem to be too selfish MOST of the time; he actually seems like a pretty normal, curious, playful little boy who loves his family and doesn't mean to seriously offend anyone.  Just look how hard he took it when his father died, and when he thought he was responsible.  If he were THAT selfish he wouldn't have been so quick to accept blame, and it wouldn't have eaten him up as much as it did.

Well, in Simba's defense, Scar DID tell him not to go there, made him promise to "never visit that dreadful place".  Yes, it's SUPER obvious to us, the audience, that's he's using reverse psychology, and his mannerisms and tone of voice would make that BLATANTLY obvious to an adult TLK character, too, but you have to remember that Simba is very young.  The concept of reverse psychology is probably beyond him, and he likely isn't too good at reading people's ( in this case, lions' ) voice tones and body language, either.

In short, he doesn't know that Scar tricked him the first time, and he has no reason to believe his uncle will deliberately put him in danger.
